Petra Ganglbauer, born 1958 in Graz, studied English and German language and literature studies, history, and media studies at the University of Graz. Her literary career began in the early eighties, first as co-editor of the literary journal "Perspektive" and then co-running the Gangan Verlag, a small publishing house for experimental literature.
She works currently as a freelance author and "Radio artist" in Vienna where she writes poetry, prose, theory and radio plays. She also collaborates with other sound and visual artists, runs writing classes as a writing educator. Since 2009 she runs the Austrian Association of Writing Educators.

Among others she published these pieces of prose: „Täter sind Risse. Betrachter“, (1996) „Niemand schreit“ (2001) „Manchmal rufe ich dorthin“ (2004), and of poetry: „Meeresschnee“, (2001) and „Die Überprüfung des Meeres“ (2010). In 2003 she published together with Hildegard Kernmayer  „Schreibweisen, Poetologien. Die (Post)moderne in der österreichischen Literatur von Frauen“ a theory on postmodern Austrian women's literature for Milena publishing house.
Since the nineties she has been writing radio plays for the ORF Austrian art radio, like the trilogy: „Dislocation-Diffusion-Direction“ and „Wenn die Stimme Zeit spricht“.
