Jeroen Theunissen is a Belgian (Flemish) writer. He was born in Ghent in 1977 and still lives and works there today. His work consists of novels, poetry, and essays. Since 2004 he has published three novels: "De onzichtbare" (The Invisible), "Het einde" (The End) and "Een vorm van vermoeidheid" (A Form of Tiredness). He has also published two collections of poetry, "Thuisverlangen" (Homesick) and "Het zit zo" (So it is). From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the important Flemish literary magazine yang, and he is a collaborator of the Flemish partner of PEN International.
His work, which has received excellent reviews, focuses on the position of people in their twenties and thirties in today’s society. It combines existentialism and romanticism with a critical look on the globalizing world. His fourth novel, a satire on the phenomenon of reality television, will appear in the spring of 2010.
