János Térey, born 1970 in Debrecen/Hungary, studied hungarian literature and linguistics at the Eötvös Loránd University Budapest. He lives as poet, playwright and translator in Budapest. János Térey is one of the most important voices in the contemporary hungarian literature. He is a poet, who lives and works in the modernity as well as in literary tradition.

Since 1991 his poems have been published in numerous collections: in 2004, the theatre tetralogy “A Nibelung lakópark” was published, in 2006 the collection“Ultra”, in 2007 followed “KaltWasserKult” (poems in German). In 2006 he received a scholarship by the Akademie Solitude in Stuttgart/Germany. He was awarded “The Guild of Theatre Editors' Prize” for Best Drama several time, also in 2009. In 2007 he was awarded the Látó Prize.
