Ignacy Karpowicz was born in 1976 in Słuczanka near Białystok. He works as a prose-writer, translator and is an enthusiastic traveller. Ignacy Karpowicz made his debut with the novel "Uncool" in 2006, in 2007 he published another novel "The Miracle”, and in the same year he published a collection of impressions from his journeys around Ethiopia called "The Emperor’s New Flower (and Bees)", which was nominated for the POLITYKA Passport. His last novel “Gestures” was published in 2008 and in the following year the book was nominated for the prestigious Nike Award.
