Filipa Melo is a Portuguese writer.

In 2001 sie published her first novel "Este É o Meu Corpo" (This is my Body) and was celebrated as the rising star of a new Portuguese literature by critics and public alike. Translations of her novel have already been published in Spain, France, Croatia, Brazil and Italy. A film adaptation is in preparation. Additionally, Melo has brought out short stories in numerous Portuguese and international publications.

Since 1992, she furthermore works as a journalist for the Portugese TV stations RTP and SIC, and for the magazines and newspapers "Público", "Expresso", "Grande Reportagem", "Visão", "Ler", "JL", "O Independente" and "So".
