Christine Bredenkamp was born 1973 in Eskilstuna, Sweden. She studied literature, German and Scandinavian literature at the Lund University. Later she attended a literary translation seminary at the Södertörns University of Stockholm. Since 1999 she has been working as a literary translator from German and English into Swedish.
Among others she translated books of authors like Vladimir Kaminer, Andrea Maria Schenkel and Charlotte Roche. Her newest work is the translation of "Corpus Delicti" by Juli Zeh, which will be published in autumn 2010 for the Swedish publishing house "Weyler".
In May 2010 Christine Bredenkamp spent four weeks at the International Center for Literary Translators in Novi Sad. The residency was supported by the programme "Building Literary Bridges" of the Robert Bosch Foundation, which supports translators of literature.
