The festival usually hosts 10 writers. This year for the first time 11 writers joined the festival. Sian Melangell Dafydd, a Welsh writer, joined the group thanks to an HALMA grant and the support of the European Commission. She came to Kiel with Robin Grossmann from Wales Literature Exchange to present her debut-novel: Y Trydydd Peth (The Third Thing).
